new shoes...

as Skeeter rightly says "Lazy bum, would get out of the house on a Sat/Sun only if he has to get his car repaired."

it was a Saturday once again and my car wished for a new set of tyres after running a great 48000 Kms. it was a long journey for the rubber pairs, through mud, dirt, rain and pain.
my tyres wheeled themselves to the land of Amritsar many a times, Shimla, Jammu, Pathankot, Dehradun, Jaipur, Rohtang, Manali, Chandigarh, Lucknow and Noida... Noida... Noida (a Zillion times) .

they were never so important to me till the time they were good. i realized their essence only when i was asked to get them replaced. it was an initial shock. like a doctor telling me that i have been tested HIV positive and i keep telling myself that i had always used protection and those few times that i hadn't i was so sure that the girl was too hot to be an HIV carrier.

coming back to vulcanized rubber i decided to look out for the best for my baby.
after a lot of research i finally zeroed the company that makes tyres for my F1 car, the Red Prancing Horse from the House of Ferrari... Bridgestone!!!

After calling up a few Bridgestone Dealers directly and pulling a few social string i zoomed off to the store.
the owner was a sweet rich man who my Dad had befriended a few months ago. after presenting me a great deal with some unusual discounts, he won me all over when he even gifted me an black Arrow Polo worth 800 bucks. the first thing i did was to turn it to each corner to see if it carried a Bridgestone logo/advertisement. no it did not.

i cam back home feeling all bounce and crisp. the feeling that you experience when you wear your new sneakers.

it's a fresh new walk all together.
:)

PS: i recommend Reeta Skeeter's bloggong skills. you should all read her Masterpiece... http://reetaskeeter.blogspot.com/2008/04/delhi-diary.html

@gunj: advertisement ka trailer hai yeh... you can't imagine the degree of self-obsession.

@elusive: you read till the very end... and that's what my post was intended at. all pretty girls who expect a twist in the tail or the anti-climax would go till the very end :)
i am really glad that you did more than anybody else.
about being 'The Narcissist Pig'... you have an eye for pork for sure.
women(for their sleaze), pigs (for the salamis) and myself(for narcissism) are a few things i am passionate about.
ps: the grunt suits you too ;)

skeety: no new car for a few more months. maybe even till the year end. told you about my latest shopping list already.
