of riots or peace

congratulations for your (V)ictory... or should i say for making the dhotis eat dirt.
honestly, i fucking don't even care if you win or loose. i hardly have any gujju connection apart from the pretty married patel girl i met in chicago.

gujarat is (or was, once upon a time) one of the most prosperous states of this country. this totally comes from a gujarati's skill to multiply money by the second.
but at the same time they are peace loving people.

i am comparing this to my motherland, The Punjab. we are a collection of fucking hard working people. brains come way after muscles. you can call us aggressive. at times we lay our entire wealth even lives for things such as self respect (intellectually read as EGO). not that gujarati's are not self respecting people, but what i mean here is that they are a calm bunch.

so Uncle Modi, just hold you guns (i actually mean the Guns) and help gujarat be what it was.
please for the sake of:
1. santa claus (christmas is around... and you would make a good one)
2. the pretty patels
3. dhokla
4. tandoori chicken (who am i kidding, we punjabis gave that to this world)
5. finally for all the people who died, some in burning trains and other because of The Burning Train.

because for all suppressors of peace, the End is not peaceful.

signed,
Lovely India

koffee with dRoZzY

this one is purely flicked... although i am a true blue tea maniac but for my new found love of coffee... where did it come from.... and how did it stay!!!

Sheep. The original providers of wool & coffee.

Legend has it that it all began by a bloke called Kaldi. A wandering shepherd by profession, he noticed his sheep suddenly going hyperactive after eating the red cherries of a certain tree. (A coffee tree obviously, but he didn't know that yet.) Not wanting to be left out, he ate some too. Thanks to herd mentality, coffee was discovered. Everyone soon enjoyed the magical boost of this berry until the Christians came in and called it The Devil's Drink.

What's Christmas without Santa, mistletoe and coffee beans?

1600 AD or so, enter Pope Vincent III. Enjoys the drink so much he baptizes it making it an acceptable Christian beverage. Instantly, coffee wins the battle of good over evil and moves over from the dark side. Years later George Lucas makes a film based on this very theme. Moving along, the next few years
sees coffee houses spring up in
Venice, England and North America. By around 1668, coffee's so popular the Americans start having it for breakfast instead of their ever so nutritional bottle of morning beer.

Women's Rights. Also women's wrongs.

Then in 1674, the Women's Petition against Coffee was set up in London. Women complained that men were never to be found at home during times of domestic crises, since they were always enjoying themselves in the coffee houses. Interestingly, things
haven't changed till date.

Ladies and gentlemen…His Royal Flopness.

A year later, King Charles II tried to suppress the coffee houses because they were regarded as hotbeds of revolution but his proclamation was revoked after a deafening public outcry and the ban lasted just 11 days. His hearing, however, lasted longer.

Nothing inspires music much like the beauty of…er…a coffee bean.

Let's skip to 1732. Nothing really happened in between except for coffee houses opening in Paris. Anyway, Johann Sebastian Bach composes his "Kafee-Kantate" or Coffee Cantata. Partly an ode to coffee and partly a stab at the movement in Germany to prevent women from drinking coffee. Sadly it doesn't
get nominated for a Grammy or rank on Hitler's top 10 favourites.

Coffee, tea or the death penalty ?

Not too sure about when this happened, but let's just stick it in here. Disagreements arose as to whether coffee was an elixir or a poison. To settle the controversy, identical Swedish twin brothers, sentenced to life imprisonment, were forced by the King to consume large quantities of either coffee or tea.
When the twin forced to drink tea died first, aged 83, the question was answered and today Swedish people are amongst the world leaders in coffee consumption. Age 83. So young. So tragic.

Chemist spends years to make instant coffee.

Fast forward to 1901. The first soluble instant coffee is invented by Japanese American chemist Satori Kato of Chicago. No one is sure of what or who to refer to as the real blend.

Americans lose sleep over coffee.

In 1906, the first mass-produced instant coffee called Red E Coffee is launched. And advertising will never be the same again. Coffee sales boom. By 1940, the US imports 70% of the world's coffee crop. Americans finally are able to stay awake in the office.

When it comes to coffee in the workplace, show them who's boss.

Around the 80's in Italy, a man went to court
to fight for an official Espresso break after being suspended for
habitually disappearing every day between
10.00am to 10.15am. The
court ruled that the Italian office worker's right to a coffee break
is sacred. So the next time you skip for a break, have no fear,
God's on your side.

Eid Mubarak

while driving home last night, i saw a middle-aged couple with a huge dog in the backseat of their old tattered Maruti 800. my friend and i laughed out aloud wishing for that couple to buy a car big enough for their dog at least. a closer look revealed the dog's real ID... it was a goat or a 'Bakra' to be precise.
at he same traffic signal i could then spot 3 similar cars with similar dog like Bakras in their backseats. i was then sure of the Eid that was around the break of dawn.

the first though that ran my mind was of pity to the innocent soul.
then came to run my phone book to find all possible khans and ahmeds i know.
i remembered with immense please, a personality of immense charm Mr. Shahid Khwaja father of a friend who boarded his school bus from the same stop as i did. their's is a lovely Muslim Family that reminds me of each time the Muslim community is ridiculed as Jehadis.
i wish each one to visit the Khwaja's to see how every muslim might NOT look like a terrorist or be one.

my doorbell rang a few minutes back. i saw at the door, azim khan waiting anxiously with a black polybag in his left hand. this khan is a carpenter by profession and played an integral role in the renovation of my house that is currently on. "Eid Mubarak Miya" he said to me handing over the Qurbaani (the sacrificed Bakra).
khan had come last to settle his financial account with my dad on the pretext that he needed money for Eid tomorrow. Enthusiastically Dad asked him to bring in the Qurbaani.

Even after being a hard-cored non-vegetarian, i had pity over the sweet looking Bakra that gets slaughtered on similar occasions. i then did some homework.

Bakr-Id The feast of Bakr-Id is an occasion to give and to sacrifice. It is a day to thank the Almighty for one's good fortune and to share it with the less fortunate brethren.

Id-ul-Zuha, or Id-ul-Azha, as it is called in Arabic, translates as 'the feast of sacrifice'. Popularly, Bakr-Id is marked by the slaughter of animals as sacrificial offerings, after which the meat is distributed among the needy and deprived.

However, the concept of sacrifice is better understood through a legend from the Old Testament.

Legend:

Legend has it that Allah commanded Hazrat Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail on Mount Mina near Mecca. Ibrahim, unable to see himself kill his son, blindfolded himself and carried out the pronouncement of God. When he took off the blindfold, a lamb lay slaughtered on the altar and his son stood there unharmed.

Ibrahim understood then that this willingness on Ibrahim's part to give up his only son was what God sought, and not the sacrifice of human flesh and blood.

The legend ascertains that all God requires of man is a surrender of his will and self. Like Ibrahim, who willingly surrenders his beloved son to God, a true follower of Islam is expected to sacrifice something that is dear to him.

The animal sacrifices made during Bakr-Id are mainly to provide food to the poor and to commemorate the noble act of Ibrahim. This spirit of sacrifice is what truly underlines the spirit of Bakr-Id. Incidentally, the day also coincides with the day when the holy Quran was declared complete.

Rituals

Bakr-Id is celebrated from the tenth to the twelfth day in the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah. Every year, while pilgrims to the Mount of Mina make animal sacrifices as part of the pilgrimage rituals, Muslims the world over celebrate Bakr-Id in a similar fashion.

Every true Muslim who possesses wealth equal to or more than 400 grams of gold or is capable of affording two square meals a day, is expected to sacrifice an animal. A goat (also called bakri, hence Bakr-Id), sheep, camel or any other four-legged animal is slaughtered during one of the three days of the festival, and the meat is distributed. The sacrificial offering is divided in three parts - one for the self, another for friends, and the third, most importantly, for the needy. The sacrifice can be offered at any time before the afternoon of the third day.

Festivities mark the first day, when people wear new clothes, offer prayers at the mosque, and greet friends and relatives. Special prayers are offered on all three days. It is said that the celebrations are carried on over three days to ensure that the entire Muslim community partakes in the noble of act of giving and sharing.

one of my many heros

India Vs. Pakistan
Dec 2007
Third Test
Break of Day 1
Sourav Ganguly... still playing... 125 and ravaging the Pakis.

a Man of substance in it's true sense.
he takes the trophy of the Fighter of the Century.
the spirit with which Dada fought his way back into the squad was commendable.
after being treated like a dog... and almost kicked out of the team, he marched past all the bastards who stood there watching.

i can actually visualize the royal bengal tiger walk past a heard without bothering to spit at them.
he made his statement.

i am no where close to being a bengali. but i am a fan. i do not go about watching all his innings but i can die for the attitude.
i correlate because i was once battered and bruised. blue and black not metaphorically but it still hurts.
i had my moment of glory to walk past 'the heard'. to fight and kill has been my motto since then.

i bow to the Great Sourav Ganguly for his will and spirit to make a mark.
cheers also go out to another man... bhajji the turner for being another man to come out and support dada in his lean patch. that's how you gang-up... kudos

we cock a snook at 'the heard'. fuck you all...
this includes uncle greg!!!

an ode

dear World,
please fuck yourself and visit the dogs for the sake of Louis...

above is the picture of a second class sleeper that i warmed for over 4 years traveling from my hostel to home viz.
i then thought that life was a bitch... times were good then. i want my bitch back.
i wanna fuckin get drunk on that berth. a whole mother fuckin bottle of vodka, mixed with limca, with a dash of lime alongside bread and omlette ala A.P Express style.

i want it back.
.
.
.
maybe i am asking for it because i know that it's never gonna happen.
French U Connection K it for all that i care.

go away

not worth reading

time is actually running out.
this nasty world raped my weekend. first of all i had to get up early on a saturday and brush my teeth before feeling my hot cup of tea. sucks!!!

and then there was no breakfast ready. i had to fix it for me. in a similar state hunger complement the impotency of a young man who has lived his life on LSD.

i was socially forced to meet the guy one of my friend is getting married to. this meant bathing on a saturday. yukkkkk!!!

and there i was clubbing (forced). all washed up and nice. hmmmmmmm and smelling davidoff nice.

and then later that night was chilling fun. watching my thick buddies roll-up joints in a park under the sky. the mere fragrance drives me numb. blissfully i lay in the dew, all wet!

after a while i drove back my dad's car back home. now here comes my dad's car because mine has been clobbered on the road. the driver's door is smashed. :((

then sunday was again about getting up early.
doing stuff at home like measuring door sizes to room areas for all the tod-fod thats happening in my house.
my feet are smeared with dirt. i hate it...

the weekend sucked!!!

marriage - "the frank confessions of girl's countdown to her wedding day"

5 things She thinks about all day:

1. our apartment
2. my sister's arrival (it fills me with a sense of doom and gloom)
she's become a sharp tongued woman
who tells me things like stay with all of us for 15 days after your honeymoon
3. how would i look on my wedding day
4. will "the boy" jilt me at the altar?
5. and i keep thinking what would happen if my chacha (who is violent) breaks into a fistfight with someone we're inviting who he's warned us not to call

one thing you wud miss the most after u get married?
i'll miss my big room

something you are actually looking forward to?
driving The Boy's new honda city!!
actually i'm really looking forward to our time together alone
i really look forward to cooking for him

do you ever dream that your shaadi would not work out?
yes
i'll be because i'd be too adamant or too egoistic to see the simple truth

children?
i want 2
he wants one
we'll see

for Presley's sake

this post has been inspired (aka flicked) from one of my fav sites.

"Top Ten List: Why Elvis Will Replace Jesus"

10. His motto "Taking Care of Business" appeals to the power structure better than "Jesus Saves."
9. White jumpsuits are more practical than white robes in most parts of the world.
8. Elvis had better songs!
7. Elvis had sex!
6. Elvis approved of his followers having sex!
5. The Presley-Jackson Estate will probably own most of the world anyway.
4. JC's disciples drove camels; Elvis' disciples drove Caddies. Which would you rather be?
3. You don't have to starve yourself to emulate Elvis.
2. JC's followers learned "turn the other cheek." Elvis' followers learned karate.
1. You're still reading this.

hail, hail, hail to Thee....

too short to be my hero

this man could have been my hero would he have survived the worldly pleasures.
had the Prince been as brave and wise as the King, he would have my Hero in all true senses.

cheating

Cheating is defined as an act of lying, deception, fraud, trickery, imposture, or imposition. Cheating characteristically is employed to create an unfair advantage, usually in one's own interest, and often at the expense of others.[1] Cheating implies the breaking of rules. The term "cheating" is less applicable to the breaking of laws, as illegal activities are referred to by specific legal terminology such as fraud or corruption. Cheating is a primordial economic act: getting more for less, often used when referring to marital infidelity.

right from the dictionary... it's meaningful, but it sucks!!!
i don't cheat... but i get cheated.... if i don't get cheated then i am scared that i might get cheated.
it cheats the hell out of me....

i am on my toes, right from checking the 0.00 while getting fuel filled in my car from scanning the change returned after paying the toll.

from the supermarket to the chaiwala... from a to z. every now and then.

please don't cheat me for the following 2 reasons:
1. i do not cheat.
2. it hurts my heart when you cheat me. it gets crushed like a flower under under your shoe.

my current state of mind... Wednesday, November 21, 2007 @ 1:32 AM

A thousand desires such as these
A thousand moments to set this night on fire
Reach out and you can touch them
You can touch them with your silences
You can reach them with your lust
Rivers mountains rain
Rain against a torrid hill’s cape
A thousand
A thousand desires such as these

hazaaron Khwaishein aisii ki har Khwaishein pe dam nikale
bahut nikale mere armaan lekin phir bhii kam nikale

I loved rain as a child
As a lost young man
Empty landscapes
Bleached by a tired sun
And then
And then suddenly it came
Like a dark unknown woman
Her eyes scorched my silences
Her body wrapped itself around me
Like a summer without end

nikalanaa Khuld se aadam kaa sunate aaye hain lekin
bahut beaabaruu hokar tere kuuche se hum nikale

Pause me, hold me, reach me
Where no man has gone
Crossing the seven seas
With the wings of fire
I fly towards nowhere
And you
Rivers mountains rain
Rain against a scorched landscape of pain

muhabbat mein nahiin hai farq jiine aur marne kaa
usii ko dekh kar jiite hain jis kaafir pe dam nikale

A thousand desires such as these
A thousand moments to set this night on fire
Reach out and you can touch them
You can touch them with your silences
You can reach them with your lust
Rivers mountains rain
Rain against the torrid hill’s cape
A thousand,
A thousand desires such as these

Khudaa ke vaaste pardaa na kaabe se uthaa zaalim
Kahiin aisaa na ho yaan bhii vahii kaafir sanam nikale
hazaaron Khvaahishen aisii ki har Khvaaish pe dam nikale
bahut nikale mere armaaN lekin phir bhii kam nikale

my current state of mind

has nothing to do with money, cars or chiccies...
for a change i am not thinking. just lying in my bed and enjoying a winter morning.
it's a Tuesday and i am at home. no working. i didn't feel like working today. in fact i didn't feel like
getting up in the chill. it felt like good old days when i was in school.

its a warm blanket but i can still sense the cold wind seep in through gap under the door. i feel it on my hands, exposed out of the blanket.

with an open heart, i welcome the winters. the season of joy to me.
the delhi winters.

i am happy

am i back?
apologies to none.

work has been crazy. for the last one month i slogged my a$$ like another one. night-outs at work have been amazing. the bosses' pampering has been the best part. good food, fuel bills and comp. offs are as amazing as ever.

the beta release went off fine last saturday. the bosses were dreading to see us work on the new year's eve. they were well saved.
of late i have become very passionate about my work. but it sucks BIG time when you are not rewarded. i really don't know for how long i would stick to this organization, but i'll miss the women anyways.

i am very happy today. for 2 reasons.

1. my car had been misbehaving a lot lately. there was sone noise under-belly along with the crank going cranky. the right shocker when chuuu chuuuu all the time. not to miss the front wipers go unsexy making the kharrrrr kharrrr sound.
so i decided to take her to the service station. after getting the baby checked and the job-card made i went right to the service managers cabing asking for a special treatment. i love myself for all this 'coz i can be one helluva countryboy with arbid people. it's fun making people empathize.
she was done in almost 2.5 hours time. there was no rush at all. i saw her bathe. what a sight...
she was polished an oiled. dusted to the inch. and she rolled out like a bride. as sexy as ever. i swear by God that i love her more than anything. i wish she could breath... she'd love me too.
i was happy to see her... to feel her... to be on her... her to be mine. it's an obsession. please respect it.

2. the second reason sticks to her too. my ever amazing mp3 player that sits on her was not reading any of my music lately. i had been listening to the ever fucked up radio mirchi, radio sargan, radio fever and God only know what other screwed up radios each morning on my way to work. each channel would play some shitty song from the movie DON to piss the frikkin hell out of me.
and you guess it right... i got my player fixed today. the discs roll like blades on ice. the first song that was presented still remained "come as you are...".
Bliss with a capital 'B'.
what more do i want.... i am happy. thank you God. i know that its a small dose, but a gift that i needed. i know that i worked for it... but what's important is that it happened.

Happy New Year to ME!!!

Regular Car Service: 3000/=
MP3 player repairs: 480/=
Happiness for 2007: PRICELESS!!!!!
