The Son...

after a 3 month battle my great friend's dad today breathed his last...
almost 90 days back i received a phone call from him, informing about his father being admitted in the hospital. his state of mind - fucked.
he is definitely not the kind of a guy who looses hope too soon.
a strict character of a strong persona.

i used to check on him every now and then just to make sure that he doesn't feel low. from regular phone calls to overnight trips to the lavish hospital's
waiting lounge...
i knew it somewhere within that it's a tough battle to last with a renal failure, a hissing heart, water-laden lungs, blood infection and internal bleeding.
damn.... that's just too much ham on the toast.

an early sms to revealed the patient's nirvana. i still went in for an outside lunch.
i called up as many school buddies as possible expecting a few special ones to show up.
but i guess i had forgotten that these were good-time buddies. when it was finally time to meet him they backed out. i am sure that gyming, girlfriends and tired asses are more important than a friend's dead father.

waited till 6pm to hitch-hike to his house.

and there i see him meeting people. one after another. till it's my turn.
the hug was crushing me.
he cried. told me that he had promised to get his Pa home... at least once.

i passively and actively saw my friend fight for his dad's life. from pillar to post. spending money like cold water in a hot month.
all to receive a 157 page bill plus a death certificate.

i just returned home after wrapping up the hospital's tasks.
cremation happens tomorrow once his brother gets back to country.

till then it's a long night for me....

May the departed Soul Rest In Peace.

Sad it is. For you and me it is something that we'll forget very soon. But it is your friend who has to live through it. Bless him
